Prof. Uli Mayer-Johanssen
Chairwoman of the Executive Board

"Design is an instrument for translating and managing a company's strategic communications. At the same time, it is a mirror of corporate values. Corporate design can thus be an important tool of renewal, unleashing incredible potential within the company."

In early 1990 Uli Mayer-Johanssen founded the corporate design agency MetaDesign plus GmbH together with two partners. Since that time MetaDesign has developed into one of Europe's leading agencies for integrated brand management.

As the executive board's managing director, Mayer-Johanssen is responsible for the agency's focus and the strategies of corporate identity and corporate design processes.

Uli Mayer-Johanssen took a degree in graphic and set design in Stuttgart. In 1986 she earned a diploma at the Visual Communications Department of the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin (Berlin College of Art).

Her first position was with the design agency FAB Kommunikation in Berlin. She served as FAB's managing partner before establishing MetaDesign.

Uli Mayer-Johannsen is an instructor at the Europäische Wirtschaftshochschule ESCP-EAP (European School of Management) and the Institut für Kultur- und Medienmanagement, Freie Universität Berlin (Institute for Cultural and Media Management at Freie Universität Berlin). She became a trustee of the Stiftung Berlinische Galerie (Berliner Gallery Foundation) in 2008.

She is a frequent speaker on issues of corporate identity and corporate design as instruments for strategic corporate management at conferences and congresses, e.g. the Baden-Badener Unternehmergespräche (Business Owners' Association) or the Bringmann Conference, as well as at leadership seminars, e.g. the Zollverein School of Management and Design and the University of St. Gallen.
