Jens Böhlke named head of unit at MetaDesign
Jens Böhlke was named head of one of MetaDesign’s three business units effective 1 November 2009. He was previously a client services director responsible for managing all areas of service MetaDesign provides for Volkswagen. In his new position he will continue his responsibility for the Volkswagen account while working with Heike Albig, the unit’s creative director, for such clients as the Berlin Transit Authority, Henkel, the Berlin-Brandenburg Transit Association, CT Pharmaceuticals and Conrad Electronics. The unit includes 30 MetaDesign employees and generates approximately six million euros revenue per year. In his new position, Jens Böhlke reports directly to the executive board. Caroline Theissen, the former head of the unit, resigned from MetaDesign in October.
Jens Böhlke looks back on many years of experience as a consultant in agencies and for automotive clients. Before starting at MetaDesign he was a commercial director for Feldacht, a communications agency, where he was responsible for dealer and after-sales communication for Mercedes-Benz and Smart. Böhlke joined MetaDesign in 2006 as the primary adviser for Volkswagen and has continually strengthened the partnership between the two companies ever since. Volkswagen has honored this commitment with a three-year contract with MetaDesign, including a greatly expanded range of services it orders from the agency.
Jens Böhlke started his career as an entrepreneur 18 years ago. He has a degree in business and worked as a corporate consultant at Vollrath & Partner in Hamburg before switching to the communication business.
Böhlke said about his new challenge: “We are living in extraordinarily exciting times in which companies and their brands are facing new business, cultural and communication challenges. I am looking forward to working with this experienced, creative team to support our clients in meeting these demands.”
