“Gute Gestaltung 09“: Gold and Grand Prix for mare and MetaDesign

The Deutsche Designer Club e.V. (DDC) has awarded “mare – Die Zeitschrift der Meere” (“mare – the magazine of the seas”) and MetaDesign with the Grand Prix in the “Gute Gestaltung 09” competition. The Grand Prix is awarded only once a year. The DDC also awarded the gold medal in the category Print to mare and MetaDesign. Having already received the red dot award 2008, the two are delighted to win these two prestigious accolades for their work together.

The art directors at mare follow a different typographical concept for each article: the typography serves to enhance the images and content. Since the first issue in 1997, MetaDesign has supported mare with its competent, sensitive image processing and its know-how in micro-typography. The wealth of ideas in design and the careful attention to detail enhance the high-quality appearance of the culture and documentary magazine.

Nikolaus Gelpke, publisher at marebuchverlag: “We are very proud to receive this award and consider it a confirmation of our commitment to careful detail in design, issue for issue.”

The “Gute Gestaltung” competition is sponsored annually by the Deutsche Designer Club e.V. (DDC). This year the jury awarded a prize or medal to 176 of the 586 entries.
