MetaDesign a Winner at the 2007 iF Communication Design Awards
Jury Honors Photo Book by Thomas Leininger
“Schweigend fühlen” (“Silently Feeling”) is the title of the exhibition devoted to Thomas Leininger’s work. MetaDesign designed the catalogue for the exhibition, creating an elegant publication that captures the mood of the photos. The basic idea was to design a catalogue that neither “screams” nor “whispers.” Making use of uncoated paper, the tranquil, classical design emphasizes the motifs’ sensuousness and warmth. This classicism is contrasted by the dynamic arrangement of images on the double-page spreads, which creates suspense and allows the photos to communicate with one another. The catalogue won in the “Print Media” category of the 2007 iF Communication Design Awards.
Stefanie Reeb’s book “Reim dich oder ich fress dich” (“Rhyme or I’ll Eat You”) was also honored at this year’s iF competition. A passionate designer at MetaDesign, Reeb launched the project with great enthusiasm and commitment. The rhymes, recipes and images in this imaginative book are designed to whet the appetite of food lovers large and small and encourage young cooks to tie on their aprons (www.reimeundrezepte.de).
The jury at this year’s iF Communication Design Awards judged a total of 1,140 submissions from 25 countries. At the ceremony on August 31 in Hanover, the winners and the general public will learn which of the 332 winning entries will receive an iF Gold Award.
